About Us History Curiosity Corner School was founded in 1985 as a non-profit corporation serving preschoolers in the West Seattle, White Center and Burien areas. Within 3 years, we expanded with a second preschool in the Admiral area of West Seattle which ran for 10 years. We moved into a commercial space in 1998 and expanded our program to include fulltime child care. We began partnering with Head Start (a federally funded program that helps low income families prepare for kindergarten) in the year 2000. In 2002, we went to full day child care center. An infant room of 7 was added in 2004. Our licensed capacity is now 76 children between the ages of 4 weeks to 5 years old. Over the past 22 years, we estimate that we have served over 2000 children in the West Seattle, Burien, and White Center neighborhood. We hope to continue to grow and serve families. Mission To provide a quality child care program for children 4 weeks to 5 years of age while supporting parents in positive parenting skills and providing information on children's developmental stages, healthy family dynamic, self esteem and personal growth. We are committed to providing quality programs to serve all ages and phases of family life. Goals Child Care Center: To provide a program where children are comfortable to explore and grow intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, socially, and physically. Family Support: To teach parenting skills and help parents provide positive guidance for their children. To provide parents a support system. To help parents understand their child's behavior at different stages and ages. As parents and children participate in our program, we strive to enrich and support their families with new strengths that help them manage their home life. Curiosity Corner will act as a facilitator to benefit all those who walk through our doors. |
